Peyote, Odd and Even

Want to learn basic bead weaving techniques?  Or, just need a refresher on how to do even or odd count peyote?  Then this is the class for you!

Peyote stitch is an essential bead weaving stitch, used in many projects from beginner to advanced levels. In this class we will make several small swatches of even and odd count peyote, while learning about managing thread, keeping even tension in your project, and adding/ending thread.

We also cover a common technique done with peyote stitch – zipping – which allows pieces to be connected seamlessly.  It is often used to make tubular beads as shown on either side of the pendant in the photo below.  The graphs for the pendant and beaded tubes are included in the handout if students want to begin a project in class.
